Final meeting TOM: Vietnam 2016 - Bridging Vietnam Skills Gap with Action Based Learning
Bridging Vietnam’s Skills Gap Using Action-Based Learning Better

Vietnam’s fast-growing economy faces a major skills gap, with most graduates lacking job readiness, millions of jobs at risk from automation, and nearly 40% of current skills set to become obsolete by 2030. To address this, Action-Based Learning (ABL) offers a powerful solution by engaging students in real-world problem solving that builds critical thinking, teamwork, and systems thinking while creating social impact. Successful initiatives, such as Crossroads Vietnam’s collaboration with persons with disabilities to design affordable assistive technologies, show how ABL drives innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability. By embedding ABL across universities, technical schools, and industry training, Vietnam can transform its skills gap into a competitive advantage, producing employer-ready graduates and aligning with the nation’s Green Growth Strategy 2021–2030.
